By the end of the course students should be able to:
- Recognize deviation from normal in terms of mental health taking into account the social contexts.
- Understand the epidemiology, etiology, clinical presentation and management of common psychiatric illnesses
- Recognize the medico legal aspects of psychiatry
- Communicate with psychiatric patients and their families
- Examine and elicit signs and symptoms of psychiatric patients
- Work in collaboration with other disciplines and with psycologists and social workers
