General objectives:

1. Establishment of low vision department as one of specialties of optometry.

2. To meet the expanding needs of low vision services in Sudan and the regional area.

Specific objectives :

Upon graduation the students should be able to:

1. Apply the scientific knowledge and skills effectively to provide high quality of health care.

2. Utilize creative, systematic and analytic thinking skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating professional tasks.

3. Serve the community as professionals as well as volunteers for prevention of blindness.

4. Conduct relevant research that solves problems or improves the quality of health.

5. Training students and give optical  and non optical management to visually impaired people.

6. Offer training for graduate and post graduate students.
